October is getting busier! The Observer has introduced both an online calendar (you can also reach that calendar on the events tab of the Observer) and a weekly roundup of upcoming events to help you keep track of events and registration deadlines. Need to add an event? Just send an email to us. Pictures or graphics can be included!

Here’s the rundown for this week (always check for details at the event links, not all events are free):

Monday, October 18

The Ferguson Public Library has a new craft kit ready for pick-up on a first-come, first-served basis. This week’s craft is a Beaded Spider Wind Chime.

Wednesday, October 20

Parks and Rec holds its first ever Murder Mystery at the Community Center at 5 pm. Check with them to see if spots are still available, $57/person.

Or check out the online Scavenger Hunt with author Dea Hoover and the Ferguson Library at 6 pm. Registration required. Register online at bit.ly/fmplscavenger or call 314-521-4820.

Friday, October 22

Do you or someone you know need help with Rental Assistance? The Salvation Army will be able to help anyone coming to the Library from 9 am to 1 pm with filling out paperwork for the County’s emergency assistance. The Salvation Army can also schedule meetings for other times by calling 314-439-8306.

Special call for all teen zombies, time to grab your nerf guns and head to Hudson Park for the inaugural Zombie Nerf War! Begins at 6:30 pm.

Saturday, October 23

Start off at the Ferguson Farmers’ Market at Plaza 501, 8 am to noon.

Two great options to burn some calories beginning at 9 am by joining the BTC Community Clean-up (meet at the Parish Center) or by joining Walk Ferguson (check their Facebook for meet-up and route).

Then unwind by helping carve pumpkins at Fire House No. 1 for Park & Rec’s upcoming Spooktacular from 12:30 to 2:00 pm.

Sunday, October 24

Help Parks and Rec decorate at the upcoming Spooktacular by carving pumpkins at Lang-Royce Park from 1:00-3:00 pm.

Deadlines today for three Halloween contests! Get your submissions in and win a prize too!

Take note that kids 1-5 should be registered by 10/20 for the Little Goblins Trick or Treat to be held on the 26th.

Get your dog, cat, or other loved pet in their costumes and show them off in the Howl-o-ween Pet Contest. Deadline to submit is the 29th.

And be sure to check back next Sunday for more events you won’t want to miss! And always go to the event calendar to stay connected.
