This Holiday Weekend in Ferguson: WinterPalooza, Tree Lighting, and Santa & Sirens

661

This weekend debuts Ferguson’s first ever WinterPalooza festival at January-Wabash Park. While many are disappointed with the cancellation of this year’s Northern Lights parade, there are still many opportunities both Saturday and Sunday (Dec. 4-5) to enjoy holiday activities with your family. (And don’t forget, thrifters and upcyclers can catch the Rummage Sale at St. Stephen’s from 9:00 to noon and anyone wanting to join a group for a walk can look for Walk Ferguson’s route for the day at 9:00.)

From 3:00-7:00 pm at January-Wabash Park there will be a full slate of activities for all. Kids can meet Anna and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen at their castle, inflatables will be found throughout the park, along with a face painter and balloons, and the amphitheater will be transformed into the North Pole, complete with Santa and his sleigh. Train rides along the lake path will be available for children. Vendors will offer food for purchase and a market for shopping for holiday gifts.

At 7:00 pm, go on down to Plaza 501 for the city Tree Lighting. Santa will be present, and cocoa and cookies will be shared.

And on Sunday, check Ferguson Park & Recreation’s Facebook for the Santa & Sirens route in Ward 1. This small parade is planned to start at 4:00 and will be the first of three parades on successive Sundays. As these parades involve our first responders, be sure to check for any changes to the start time or route in case our firefighters or policemen need flexibility for these special neighborhood visits.
