First, take a deep breath. Repeat as needed, all through the end of this month. It gets unseasonably warmer this week, so get outside some to chat with neighbors or take a long walk.

Do you have an event to add to the calendar? If so, just send an email to us. Pictures or graphics can be included!

There are a lot of on-going events right now:

Send Mail to Santa! Santa’s Mailbox is still at the Community Center for kids to drop off their letters to Santa—just be sure to include the child’s first and last name, age, wish list, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Santa will respond to letters received from now through Thursday December 16th. See here for more information.

Decorate your House! And enter Ferguson Park & Rec’s Holiday Lights Contest by filling out the form here. Judging is on December 20th, so you still have time to get ready.

The Winter Reading Challenge starts this week! Pick up a log from the Library and turn it in by January 29th for a chance to win a gift card. See here for more information.

And here’s the rundown for special events this week (always check for details at the event links, not all events are free):

Monday, December 13

The Ferguson Public Library has a new craft kit ready for pick-up on a first-come, first-served basis. This week’s craft is “Peppermint Hot Chocolate Scrub.” Get one while they last!

And at 6:00 you can join the Readings on Race Book Club on Zoom to discuss The Whiteness of Wealth: How the Tax System Impoverishes Black Americans – and How We Can Fix It by Dorothy Brown. See this link for more information and how to join the group.

Tuesday, December 14

At 9:30 am, Santa will be stopping at the Community Center to read to kids 5 and younger and build gingerbread houses. $5/child. You can register online here.

Friday, December 17

The Flashlight Candy Cane Hunt at Hudson Park starts at 7:00 pm. All ages can join in at $5/person. You can register online here.

Saturday, December 18

Get outdoors and join Walk Ferguson for their weekly route at 9:00 am (check their Facebook for meet-up and route).

From 9:00-noon you can get some Christmas shopping and pick up some ingredients for holiday cooking at the Indoor Winter Market at St. Stephen’s.

And at 10:00, your dog can join in holiday festivities at Wayside Dog Park. Holiday treats are included, $5/dog or free with Dog Park membership. You can register online here.

And join the Library on Facebook for Storytime in Toyland from 2:00-2:30. Just head to the Library’s Facebook here.

Sunday, December 19

The final Santa and Sirens will go through Ward 3 starting at 4:00 pm. The route will be posted by Sunday. Look for where and when each evening’s route will be on Ferguson Park & Rec’s Facebook page so you know where to go and see Santa and all his friends. And as our first responders are participating, be sure to check just before and during the event for any unanticipated delays or changes.
